Gaya Ji: Four people, including a father and son, died of suspected asphyxiation after inhaling toxic gas while repairing a motor inside a well in Bihar’s Gaya Ji district on Friday, officials said.

The incident took place at Garh Karmauni village under the Dobhi police station area.

The deceased have been identified as Chamari Manjhi, his son Dilchand Manjhi, Vikas Chaudhary and Vijay Chaudhary.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sushil Kumar said all four reportedly died after inhaling toxic gas inside the well.

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed grief over the incident and directed officials to provide an ex gratia of ₹4 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
